Zoe Saldana Diet Plan
Zoe gave birth to twins just before the start of filming for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2! Some women may take longer to lose weight after giving birth than others, and mothers should not feel pressured to return to their pre-pregnancy weight.
Zoe had to take it slowly, and she couldn’t do a lot of strenuous exercises. As a result, she focused on eating nutritious foods that would nourish her and her children.
I understand Zoe’s difficulties. I am a new mom, and my postpartum health journey was also difficult. For some women, the pressure to lose weight and eat healthily can be exhausting, and everyone should go at their own pace.
Zoe worked hard to lose her baby weight (and she looks fantastic!). However, she noticed herself becoming anxious about what she would eat, which distracted her from being present with her family and friends. As a result, Zoe has learned that she can’t be too picky about her food. She doesn’t diet (and won’t even admit it!). Instead, she makes an effort to consume nutritious foods that will keep her healthy for the rest of her life.
Zoe tries to stick to an 80/20 schedule in general. She eats healthy meals about 80% of the time and allows herself to indulge in treats the rest of the time. She makes healthy choices during the week, but she is less concerned on the weekends.
Zoe Saldana Break Fast
Zoe loves the protein that eggs provide, so she eats a lot of eggs and vegetables for breakfast. She’ll also eat avocado toast with sliced tomatoes on occasion. In the morning, she likes to serve meals with green juice. It’s a quick way for her to get some vegetables in, and she likes how efficient it is.
Zoe, a busy mother of three, does not always have time to prepare breakfast in the morning. As a result, she frequently prepares quick but nutritious shakes for herself and her children. Here are the ingredients she uses in her go-to shake:
- 3 frozen bananas
- A handful of Brazilian nuts
- 1 cup of oat milk (but you can use any milk you like)
- 1 probiotic tablet
- 1/2 cup of coconut water
- 2 scoops of chocolate protein powder (she always makes sure to pick a kid-friendly powder)
- 1/2 cup of frozen blueberries
Zoe Saldana Lunch
Zoe prefers to eat meals prepared at home by herself (or her husband). She enjoys trying new foods from around the world, but she will always crave Caribbean dishes from her childhood, such as rice and beans and grilled fish with vegetables.
Her mother’s stir-fry fried rice was one of the dishes she grew up eating. She changed the recipe for her family, and she now substitutes quinoa for rice. The following are the ingredients she employs:
- 3 Tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 onion small dice
- 3 garlic cloves minced
- 3 oz turkey
- 1 tomato large dice
- 3oz white wine
- Splash olive oil
- 3 eggs scrambled
- 3 cups cooked quinoa
- 1oz soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 3 scallions chopped
- 1/2 carrot shredded
- Season with soy to taste
Zoe enjoys making potato and shrimp salad as well. The dish had been passed down through her family for generations. To make the salad, combine boiled eggs, potatoes, carrots, and cooked shrimp in a large mixing bowl. As a dressing, she makes a tangy onion vinaigrette.
Dinner
Zoe and her family try to eat gluten-free as much as possible. However, Zoe’s husband is Italian, and he wishes to continue enjoying some dishes from his native country. As a result, Zoe follows a gluten-free diet that is roughly 80% of the time. She eats pasta, bread, and breaded meats occasionally, but for the most part, Zoe looks for gluten-free alternatives for dinner.
Grilled honey ginger chicken is one of her favorite dinner dishes. She eats it with quinoa and zucchini. Yum!
She is also a fan of gluten-free pizza. She makes a cauliflower crust and piles on a lot of toppings. At home, she enjoys baking with the following toppings:
- Burrata cheese
- Mozzarella cheese
- Pesto
- Chopped grilled chicken breast
- Red onion
- Spinach
- Diced bell pepper
- Arugula
- Grilled mushrooms
- Low-fat ricotta
When she goes out to eat, she prefers to go to a dim sum restaurant. She claims to be willing to eat anything steamed in a dumpling. She enjoys making coconut macaroons for dessert.
Zoe Saldana Workout Routine
Zoe Saldana works out with Steve Moyer, and he likes her to do a variety of exercises to challenge her body in different ways. He prefers to have his clients do a combination of cardio and resistance training.
Cardio Exercise
Zoe had to gradually reintroduce herself to working out after giving birth to twins. Returning to your regular workout routine after pregnancy can take a long time for new moms (it did for me!). Zoe’s only source of exercise at first was long walks.
Zoe was able to gradually progress to more strenuous forms of exercise, such as running, using an elliptical machine, riding a stationary bike, or swimming laps. She prefers to do steady-state cardio for at least 40 minutes to an hour in general. Moderate cardio workouts like this one assisted her body in staying in the fat-burning zone.
Zoe will occasionally do HIIT workouts. Steve Moyer, on the other hand, does not want her to overwork her body, which can be a problem with doing a lot of HIIT workouts. He wants to give her body time to recover between workouts, and he understands that pushing too hard in the gym can lead to burnout.
Zoe has also worked with trainer Ramona Braganza, who assisted her in preparing for the 2009 film Star Trek. Zoe wanted to avoid the treadmill and other gym equipment as much as possible when she was with Ramona. They made cardio more enjoyable for her by incorporating boxing and dancing into her workout. She also performed numerous kicks, leg lifts, and plyometric combinations.
She also enjoys going on hikes with her family in outdoors.
Resistance Training
Zoe’s goal is to maintain her lean and toned physique. Steve recommends that Zoe do interval resistance workouts three days a week to achieve this look. He wants her to rest between days, so she doesn’t do these on consecutive days.
Here’s an example of one of her interval workouts:
- Squats – 24 reps
- Plank push-ups – 24 reps
- Jumping lunges – 24 reps
- Hanging knee raises – 24 reps
She takes a one-minute break after completing the circuit. Then she goes over the exercises again from the beginning. She performs a total of five sets. Zoe also enjoys Pilates-inspired workouts, particularly for her core. Her favorite ab workouts include:
- Hundreds
- Bicycles
- Leg lifts
- Exercises on the Bosu ball
Conclusion
We admire Zoe’s candor about her postpartum struggles and body image issues. Taking care of your body and well-being without becoming obsessive can be difficult. Zoe, on the other hand, appears to have struck the perfect balance!
