American actress Xochitl Gomez is best known for playing Dawn Schafer on the Netflix show The Baby-Sitters Club. She was also just chosen to play the Marvel hero America Chavez in the movie Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
Xochitl has been acting since she was 5 years old, and soon after, she knew she wanted to be in movies and on stage. She worked hard for years, sending out tapes and attending as many auditions as possible. Finally, she got her big break.
Even though we have done a lot of research on Xochitl Gomez’s workouts and diet, this is not exactly what she does. This book is a collection of her thoughts on society, interviews she’s given, and advice from experts in the field.

Workout Principles
As the youngest Latina Marvel superhero, Xochitl Gomez, who is 16 years old, has a lot riding on her success. America Chavez, the character she plays, is also the first LGBTQ character in the MCU.
On the set of the Doctor Strange movie, Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen helped her train, but Xochitl Gomez had to do stunts and wirework over and over again with a coach to learn how to do them.
Xochitl Gomez’s Workout Routine
Xochitl Gomez started training for her role as America Chavez as soon as she got a callback and then got the part. She did strength training, boxing, MMA training, and cardio. Even though it’s not clear if she worked with a trainer, most Marvel Studios heroines do because their stunt work is so intense and demanding. Before filming, Xochitl Gomez worked out six days a week and tried to work out every day while on set.
Here’s what Xochitl Gomez does to work out:
Monday: Strength training for the whole body
Here is Xochitl Gomez’s full-body strength training program, which helps her tone and shapes her upper and lower body.
Warm-Up:
- 15 minutes on a running machine
Full body circuit:
- Lunge (4 sets, 10 reps)
- Reverse lunge (4 sets, 12 reps)
- Jump squat (4 sets, 8 reps)
- Split squat (4 sets, 10 reps)
- Medicine ball slam (4 sets, 10 reps)
- Lat pull-up (4 sets, 8 reps)
- Burpee (4 sets, 5 reps)
- Hip flexors (4 sets, 10 reps)
Tuesday: Mixed martial arts training
- Xochitl Gomez trained in MMA twice a week to get ready for her role as America Chavez so that she could fight the bad guys with Doctor Strange and all her other co-stars. MMA training is a perfect way to work out because it helps you focus and concentrate better, relieves stress, and makes your heart healthier.
Wednesday – Run
Even if you only have to do a fight scene once, it’s hard enough. If you have to do it more than once, you have to be in great shape. Xochitl Gomez goes on a long, 6-7 mile run every Wednesday to build up her endurance, especially for complex fight scenes that may need to be reshot more than once before the director is happy with them.
Thursday: Kickboxing
On Thursdays, Xochitl Gomez goes to a kickboxing class, where she works on her strength and keeps her heart rate up and blood flowing. Kickboxing is a great way to cross-train people of all fitness levels because it improves posture and burns many calories. You can also make the exercise harder by putting weights on your wrists or ankles.
Friday: Strength training for the entire body
Xochitl Gomez will be in the gym on Friday for a full-body strength training workout. This is how that looks:
Warm-Up
- Using the rowing machine for 10 minutes
- 10 minutes on a bike that doesn’t move
Full body circuit:
- Squat (4 sets, 10 reps)
- Curl hammer (4 sets, 15 reps)
- Shoulders-up (4 sets, 10 reps)
- Front kick (4 sets, 10 reps)
- Switching between dumbbell chest presses (4 sets, 15 reps)
- Triceps stretch (4 sets, 10 reps)
- Walking lunge (4 sets, 15 reps)
- Row by cable (4 sets, 10 reps)
Saturday – Run
Xochitl Gomez lifts heavy weights and works out in a gym all week. On Saturday, she goes for a long, slow run around her neighborhood and the surrounding area. Xochitl likes to work outside because it’s good for her mind and body.
Sunday – Day of Rest
Xochitl Gomez takes Sunday off to let her body rest and heal from all the hard workouts she did during the week. If you’ve been working out for a few days and your muscles are sore, use a foam roller to work out any tension or lactic acid in your muscles.
Xochitl Gomez’s Diet
Since Xochitl Gomez is only 16, she doesn’t have to worry much about what she eats and how it might make her look. She does, however, have to eat healthy foods that give her body the fuel it needs and give her energy and strength while she works out and plays America Chavez.
Xochitl likes to snack a lot, and when she was getting ready for Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, she wanted to find more healthy things to eat.
Here is Xochitl Gomez’s diet:
Morning meal
- 3 egg omelet
- A half-avocado
- Toasted whole wheat
Lunch
- Chicken Caesar wrap
- Fruit
Dinner
- Chicken burrito bowl with grilled chicken and quinoa
- Baked sweet potato

Xochitl Gomez does excellent work everywhere she goes, from the set of Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness to The Baby-Sitters Club. This is because she is a passionate young woman who gives her all to everything she does. She is a rising star in the Marvel movie universe, and we think she’ll be a big deal next year.
We can’t wait to see Xochitl Gomez on the red carpet and in any movie she’s in, representing the Latinx community through her social activism.
