What is Erectile Dysfunction?

A man is examined to have erectile dysfunction if he regularly finds it hard obtaining or retaining a firm sufficient erection to be able to have sex or if it obstructs other sexual activity.

However, severe men have occasionally felt some issue with their penis becoming hard or staying firm. However, erectile dysfunction is only examined as a concern if satisfactory sexual performance has been difficult on several occasions for some time.

Since the discovery that the drug sildenafil, or Viagra, influenced penile erections, severe people have become familiar that erectile dysfunction as a treatable medical situation. Men who have a problem with sexual execution may be reluctant to talk with their consultant, looking it can be an embarrassing disorder.

Men may not always successfully attain an erection, and if this rarely occurs, it is not examined as a medical problem. However, erectile dysfunction does not only refer to a full inability to attain an erect penis. Symptoms may also include struggling to manage an erection for long sufficient to full intercourse or an inability to ejaculate.

However, there are often also emotional signs, like embarrassment, shame, anxiety, and a decreased interest in sexual intercourse. A man is examined to have erectile dysfunction when these signs occur regularly.

Normal erectile dysfunction can be influenced by issues with any of the following systems:-

  • Blood flow
  • Nerve supply
  • Hormones

Atherosclerosis is a familiar cause of blood flow problems. Atherosclerosis creates a narrowing or clogging of arteries in the penis, stopping the necessary blood pass to the penis to generate an erection.

Severe prescription medications can also create erectile dysfunction. Anyone using prescription medications should ask their consultant before removing or changing their medications:-

Physical causes account for 90% of erectile dysfunction, with psychological causes severe less familiar.

Psychological causes

In rare cases, a man may always have had erectile dysfunction and may have attained an erection. However, this is known as primary erectile dysfunction, and the cause is more or less always psychological if there is no obvious anatomical deformity or physiological disorder. Such psychological factors may include:-

  • Guilt
  • Fear of intimacy

Severe cases of erectile dysfunction are ‘secondary.’ However, this means that erectile function has been normal. But becomes difficult. The causes of a new and persistent issue are normally physical.

Less familiarly,  psychological factors cause or give to erectile dysfunction, with factors varying from treatable mental health illnesses to everyday emotional states that severe people feel at some time.

However, it is important to note that there can be a crossing between medical and psychosocial causes. For example, if a man is obese, blood flow changes can influence his ability to manage an erection, which is a physical cause. However, he may also have low self-esteem, which may influence erectile function and is a psychosocial cause.

Less familiarly using drug options to include prostaglandin E1, which is appealing locally by either inserting it into the penis or injecting it down the unlocking of the urethra.
