Lomachenko was born Vasyl Anatoliyovich Lomachenko to Tetiana and Anatoly Lomachenko, on February 17, 1988, in Bilhorod Dnistrovskyi, Ukrainian SSR. Lomachenko himself was engaged in enhancing a professional ice hockey player but his father alternately persuaded him to proceed with a boxing career.
