Terry  Wahls is a physician as well as a professor of medicine at the University of Iowa. He was an assistant chief of staff at Iowa City Veterans Administration Health Care. She has conducted clinical trials and has a private practice. She was detected with a chronic progressive neurological disorder. Wahls was born on November 9, 1955. Currently, She is 66 years old.

To become the associate chief of staff for ambulatory care at the Veterans Administration  Iowa City Medical Center, Wahls moved to Iowa City, Iowa. She is also the mother of two children named Zach and Zebby.

Terry was so active earlier. She climbed mountains and did cross-country skiing and also ran marathons. But within three years of her diagnosis, she was using a wheelchair.

Terry generally follows her Wahls Protocol. It is a nutrient-rich paleo diet that includes greens, sulfur-rich and deeply colored vegetables, berries, grass-fed meat, wild fish, and organ meat. As the seasons change, Wahls make some tweaks that work well for her body:

During the winter season, she loves to eat the Wahls Paleo Plus the ketogenic version of Wahls Protocol. During the summer, she follows a low-glycemic-index version of her diet plan. Whatever the season is, she eats one or two meals a day in order to reap the mitochondrial benefits.

Terry discovered the nutrients that are useful for a healthy brain and also the powerhouses in cells known as mitochondria can be found in veggies, fruit, and wild, organic meats. She starts to consume more veggies, fruits, and organic meats.

Nine Cups

Wahls protocol is to eat 9 cups of vegetables and fruit every day. It includes  3 cups of leafy greens, 3 cups of sulfur-rich vegetables like onions, garlic, and cabbage, and 3 cups of brightly-colored vegetables and fruit.

No Eggs In Her Basket

Wahls doesn’t take the egg in her breakfast which contradicts the paleo because she is allergic to them.

Terry every day starts her day with a vegetable-based smoothie with greens, coconut milk, water, and ice. She usually drinks smoothies before work, or at lunchtime, depending on when she wants to break her fast
