If you watch Gossip Girl and have ever wondered how Leighton Meester stays in shape, keep reading to learn all about her diet and workout routine. Leighton has a great body, which is clear. She is lucky with her looks, but she also works hard to stay healthy and slim.
Now that she’s 34 and a mother of two, some of her priorities are different than when she was acting in Gossip Girl. But she still works out on a regular schedule and eats well.
Leighton Meester Diet
In her teens and early 20s, Leighton didn’t think much about what she ate. But when she was in her mid-20s, she changed everything about the way she ate. She rethought everything she was eating with the help of a friend who was a nutritionist. They worked together to come up with some healthy recipes that Leighton could make at home.
Leighton felt better when he switched to a diet that was healthier and had less processed food. She didn’t know that what she was eating could be making her feel slow or off.
Leighton is a mother, and she is also very dedicated to her work as an actor, model, and philanthropist. To put it another way, she’s busy. She is fine with the fact that it can be hard for her to put healthy eating first. Some nights, she only has time for cereal for dinner because she is busy.
In general, though, Leighton eats about 70% healthy foods and 30% treats. She tries to eat well about 70% of the time, and the other 30%, she lets herself eat whatever she wants.

What She Eats In A Day
Leighton doesn’t eat in a certain way. She instead tries to eat well-balanced foods that haven’t changed much. Most of her meals are made with raw, natural ingredients. Brown rice, whole grains, greens, and fresh fruit are some of the things she always has in her fridge and pantry.
Leighton takes care of herself a lot. In interviews, she always talks about how she wants to eat well to treat her body with respect. She tries to eat based on how she feels, and she doesn’t give herself a hard time with her diet.
What she usually eats in a day is listed below.

Most of the time, Leighton eats a simple, healthy breakfast. She keeps the ingredients for smoothies in reusable bags in the freezer so that all she has to do in the morning is blend them together.
She blends together:
- Collard, kale, and spinach greens
- Spirulina and chlorella powder
- Flaxseeds and chia seeds
- Mango cubes
- A banana
Leighton starts her day off well when she eats a really healthy meal. Her busy schedule gives her the energy and motivation to get through meetings, filmings, and other demands. Leighton also drinks coffee every day. She puts raw milk or heavy whipped cream in hers.
Leighton usually takes a lunch break while she’s at work. She usually has fish, chicken, or turkey on a salad.
Leighton is more open when it comes to dinner. She usually eats what she wants or what she has time for, like a bowl of cereal every now and then. Tacos are a meal that she and her husband often eat.
She likes to have a fudge mint cookie after dinner. This is usually her treat every day.
Leighton Meester Workout Routine
Leighton used to do Pilates all the time. She used to like doing it, but now she says she doesn’t. She’s sick of it, so she tries to work out in ways that she enjoys.
Now, once a week, she has a trainer come to her house. The trainer makes sure that she is doing the exercises right. She said that this makes her look forward to going to the gym instead of dreading it. She likes how easy it is to work out at home, just like I do.
Working With Trainer
Leighton has trained with Justin Falahi, a well-known trainer. Together, they made a workout plan for her that helps her keep her muscles toned, show off her slim but curvy body, and feel healthy.
Here’s an example of how they usually work out:
Instead of going to the gym, they work out in the park or outside. There, people run, do bodyweight moves and use benches instead of gym equipment. Leighton doesn’t get bored when he goes outside.
They don’t work out at the same time every day. Leighton doesn’t count reps for Justin. They instead want to keep her heart rate up for a certain amount of time. They let up. At the end of every workout, they meditate for at least 5 minutes to calm their minds and bodies.
Her Workout Routine
Leighton has a mesomorph body type, so this routine has been changed for her. I think mesomorphs should do the following: Mix workouts that are easy and ones that are hard. Focus on resistance training with your own body weight three times a week. Mesomorphs don’t get too big because they work out with their own bodies.
Justin’s routine for Leighton does a good job of following these rules. Three times a week, Leighton does a mix of HIIT and bodyweight training. Every 45-minute session works out her whole body. Here are some of the moves she makes:
- Jumping squats
- Flamingo (this targets her core and butt)
- Frog jumps
- Different push-ups
- Different pull-ups
- Leighton starts the session with some cardio and ends it with some stretching.
- Leighton also goes for a lot of walks, swims, and rides her bike.
Adam Brody, Leighton’s husband, taught her how to surf, which she says is one of the best ways to stay in shape. She used to only go on the weekends at first. But she has slowly started to do less of her other workouts and more surfing.
Leighton likes to surf because she can focus on learning a new skill instead of trying to change her body shape. She feels close to herself and at ease when she turns off her phone and surfs the web. Surfing has helped her balance and coordination, which is good for her body. It has also helped her legs and core.
Leighton is a busy mom who doesn’t have time to work out for hours and hours. She doesn’t have to, though. Leighton is able to stick to a healthy diet and work out regularly because she is kind to herself.
I like how realistic she is in taking this approach. She looks great, and it looks like she’s living a life she loves.
