Instead of going to the gym, they work out in the park or outside. There, people run, do bodyweight moves and use benches instead of gym equipment. Leighton doesn’t get bored when he goes outside.
They don’t work out at the same time every day. Leighton doesn’t count reps for Justin. They instead want to keep her heart rate up for a certain amount of time. They let up. At the end of every workout, they meditate for at least 5 minutes to calm their minds and bodies.
Her Workout Routine
Leighton has a mesomorph body type, so this routine has been changed for her. I think mesomorphs should do the following: Mix workouts that are easy and ones that are hard. Focus on resistance training with your own body weight three times a week. Mesomorphs don’t get too big because they work out with their own bodies.
Justin’s routine for Leighton does a good job of following these rules. Three times a week, Leighton does a mix of HIIT and bodyweight training. Every 45-minute session works out her whole body. Here are some of the moves she makes:
- Jumping squats
- Flamingo (this targets her core and butt)
- Planks
- Frog jumps
- Different push-ups
- Different pull-ups
- Leighton starts the session with some cardio and ends it with some stretching.
- Leighton also goes for a lot of walks, swims, and rides her bike.
Surfing
Adam Brody, Leighton’s husband, taught her how to surf, which she says is one of the best ways to stay in shape. She used to only go on the weekends at first. But she has slowly started to do less of her other workouts and more surfing.
Leighton likes to surf because she can focus on learning a new skill instead of trying to change her body shape. She feels close to herself and at ease when she turns off her phone and surfs the web.
