Origin of the International Yoga Day

International Yoga Day rejoices each year on the 21st of June. This custom started in 2015. We are so satisfied to say that this internationally celebrated day was initiated by our very one current prime minister of India, Narendra Modi on 27 September 2017 while he was passing his speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

After the initial proposal by PM Narendra Modi, UNGA held consultations informally on the bond resolution namely, ‘International Yoga Day, on October 14, 2014. The consultations were assembled by the delegation of India. In the year of 2015, the Reserve Bank of India proceeded with a 10 rupees coin to mark the international day of yoga. After this action, in April 2017, the United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) declared 10 marks on the Asanas on a sheet to mark this day.

International Yoga Day 2021 Theme

This time will be the 7th edition of international yoga day. The subject of this year’s International Day of Yoga 2021 is “Yoga for well-being”. 6th International Day of Yoga, 2020, the question was ‘Yoga for health at home. This theme is primarily due to the pandemic.

The statement of the 5th International Day of Yoga, 2019 was “Climate Action”. In the United Nations, it will be primarily celebrated a day before that is on 20 June 2019 with ‘Yoga with Gurus’ and developed by a panel of discussion on 21 June.
